Gongora galeata

This cool growing species from Mexico naturally grows epiphytically and because of this has a pendent flower stem. This hangs down over the side of the pot or basket, showing off a set of unusual, curled flowers which are highly citrus scented. The usual species is coloured orange and brown but occasionally we get yellow and orange forms. 

This orchid's leaves may have some small black specks. We are not concerned about this and the plants grow and flower well in spite of it. It is not a disease so will not spread to other plants.
